Traditional Chinese Medicine

Developed 4000 years ago Chinese medicine offers an integrated, holistic approach to healing disease. Based upon the Yi Jing ‘The Book of Changes’ & the Dao it acknowledges that the only constant in the body is ‘Change’. The body is a refined balance of patterns and cycles that are guided by the internal movement of Qi/energy, blood, yin and yang. The internal organic systems are integrally related to the external systems of the environment and the universe.

The energy, or Qi, travels in meridians/pathways extending along the surface of the body’s extremities, moving internally to affect the function of the organic systems. The Qi of the system is intrinsically related to the efficiency of the immune, nervous, glandular and circulation function. These systems combine to regulate the function of all major organs in the body.

Chinese medicine uses a synthesis of diagnostic methods to analyze, rebalance & strengthen your body’s energy system. The foundations of diagnosis are built upon the yin/yang theory, 5 element theory, tongue and pulse analyses. Together these methods allow the practitioner to determine the patterns of disease and the tendencies of your body, mind and spirit. The objective of Chinese medicine is to regulate and balance, nourish and activate the organic systems of the body.  Acting to treat the person as a whole to heal and prevent disease.

Your treatment will include a combination of acupuncture, massage (Tui Na), dietary & lifestyle counseling, herbal therapy, meditation & movement practices.
